Yorel Gonzalez Arrested in James Avenue DWI Crash [Waco, TX]

Waco, TX (December 19, 2025) — A late-night ATV crash in Waco led to serious injuries and the arrest of Yorel Gonzalez early Wednesday.

Police responded just after midnight to the 3300 block of James Avenue after receiving an automated emergency alert reporting a severe crash and a person drifting in and out of consciousness. Officers arrived to find an all-terrain vehicle that had struck a parked SUV.

Two passengers suffered serious injuries. One sustained a severe arm injury that could result in long-term loss of use. Officers found one victim bleeding from the head with an apparent arm injury, while another injured person lay nearby.

Investigators learned the ATV’s owner had allowed another man to drive. The driver left the scene before officers arrived. Police later located the suspect near Speight and Richter avenues and identified him as Yorel Gonzalez. A blood draw followed, and authorities booked Gonzalez into the McLennan County Jail on two counts of intoxication assault.
