Cathedral City, CA (May 26, 2025) – 27-year-old Yuvinka Ponce of Cathedral City died after a tragic pedestrian crash on Dinah Shore Drive.

Police arrested a 35-year-old Anthony Vega following a fatal pedestrian crash Saturday night in Cathedral City.

Authorities say that at around 8:50 p.m., officers responded to Dinah Shore Drive and Via Echo, where they found a pedestrian with severe injuries. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Ponce. The driver, Vega, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police booked him into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
