LAPD Searches for Driver After Reseda Hit-and-Run Leaves E-Scooter Rider Critically Injured
Los Angeles, CA (May 15, 2025) — LAPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash on Strathern Street that critically injured an electric scooter rider in Reseda.
Investigators said a dark-colored SUV traveling eastbound on Strathern Street struck a man riding an e-scooter southbound in the bike lane along Reseda Boulevard at about 6:25 a.m. Thursday. The impact threw the rider into the air before he landed on the roadway.
Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the victim to a hospital with severe injuries.
Authorities said the driver fled the scene after the crash. Detectives continue working to identify the suspect vehicle and driver.
Officials are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person responsible.
Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact the LAPD Valley Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers.
Hit-and-Run is a Crime
A hit-and-run is a deadly offense that endangers lives and robs victims of their right to assistance. If you’re in an accident, do not leave the scene and check for injuries, 911 should be called immediately. Leaving can lead to criminal charges, even if the crash appears to be minor. As a driver, own it — someone’s life could hang in the balance.
If you observe a hit-and-run, report it and give any information you can. Assistance to law enforcement can really make a difference. Each of us can do our part to drive responsibly and with integrity, and to get everyone the help they need after a crash.

What Should You Do When Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision?
If you are injured in a hit-and-run collision, your safety and health come first. Call 911 immediately to report the crash and request medical help. If you are able, try to remember and record any details about the fleeing vehicle—such as the make, model, color, or license plate number. Also, take photos of the scene, your injuries, and any vehicle damage. Gather contact information from any witnesses who saw the crash.
Once you’ve received medical attention, report the incident to the police and get a copy of the report for your records. Notify your insurance company about the hit-and-run as soon as possible; your policy may include uninsured motorist coverage that can help with medical costs and vehicle repairs.
